A record of philanthropy

Posted

On Dec. 8, during its annual Christmas program, the Nassau Woman’s Club formally presented its records to the Museum of the Village of Rockville Centre’s archives collection.

A philanthropic organization, the Nassau Women’s Club was organized in March 1939 and incorporated in 1956. Two of the three charter members of the club are now in their 90’s: they are Judith Utter and Mildred Bennett, wife of the late Judge John Bennett.

In addition to providing scholarships to deserving high school graduates, the club collects supplies for local food banks and supports other charities including those for American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Nassau Women’s club meets at noon on the second Wednesday of the month in the United Church of Rockville Centre, 430 Morris Ave. Membership is open to any woman wanting to enjoy a social as well as philanthropic organization. If you are interested or need more information, call the membership chairwoman at (516) 678-1064.
