A sweet taste of home Girl Scouts send cookies overseas to a local marine

In order to earn their next merit badge, (or petal as the Daisy's refer to them), signifying that the girls have done something to make the world a better place, the troop decided to reach out to the soldiers serving abroad.
It-s part of the Girl Scout law, explained troop leader Denise Mihalich, who along with co-leader Trish Louw planned the project. We decided to send a local soldier, who is making the world a better place, cookies, chap stick and Life Savers, to try and make his world a better place.
The troop, made up of 6-year old girls, was delighted with the project and spent the afternoon of April 26, wrapping and addressing their packages to Joseph. They included drawings and personal notes and the loot, which they were assured will be greatly appreciated.
We are helping every American, smiled Daisy Meagan Ochtera.
The troop was even joined by a special guest that day -- Joseph-s mother, Carol.
This is so sweet, she said of the gesture. It is such a nice thing to do, especially since Joey loves Girl Scout cookies and misses home so much.
Adding to an already emotional afternoon for Carol, the girls recited their oath for Carol, which in part says:
I will try to honor God and my country...
Carol was momentarily overwhelmed, but managed to add, They just did that.
