Center for Science, at Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Centre, us a 17-acre preserve complete with ponds, nature trails, and a fishing pier. The facility features a science lab for kids and a wildlife rescue center. Run by the Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to science education, the Center for Science offers year-round activities for kids. The Gilbert & Sullivan Yiddish Light Opera Company seeks new performers: male and female, leads, and chorus. Performances combine a love for the Yiddish language and for Gilbert & Sullivan. However, you do not have to understand Yiddish to experience the joy of learning the shows and being part of the group. Performances are held throughout Long Island and the metropolitan area. Orchard Hill Designer Showhouse showcases 20 top interior designers and decorative artists who have decorated the 1859 Quaker farmhouse at Old Westbury Gardens. Peggie Phipps Boegner, who grew up in nearby Westbury House and was the founder of Old Westbury Gardens, lived in the Orchard Hill home from 1930 until her passing in 2006. The property, including the home (which had never previously been opened to the public), and various cottages and farm structures, is now part of Old Westbury Gardens.
