An award winning night: Chamber of Commerce honors Lynbrook's finest

Barbarino, named Educator of the Year, was noted for his dedication to children and his commitment to the students of his district. He has been principal of the high school for the past 19 years.
Fusswinkel, a veteran of the Lynbrook force for the past 22 years, was named Police Officer of the Year and honored for his commitment to the community.
In a speech given by Chief James McDermott, Pearsall was honored for his dedication to serving his community in the true spirit of volunteerism. Pearsall has been a member of the Lynbrook Fire Department for more than 30 years and the chamber honored him as Firefighter of the Year.
      An unprecedented fourth award was given this year to Gilmartin who, while at work for the Lynbrook DPW, noticed smoke coming from the firehouse on Earle Avenue. Risking personal injury, Gilmartin entered the building and drove the company's trucks to safety.
