One week after Earth Day, local volunteers joined village officials and members of the Rockville Centre Conservancy in a clean up of Centennial Park near Mill River, and a ceremonial tree planting. The original event on April 22 had to be postponed when a nor’easter scoured the area with heavy, much-needed rain. Even the smallest hands made a big difference, as Karen, 8, and 5-year-old Madeline Handsen helped clear trash.
