Brigadier General Audino promoted West Hempstead resident Michael Liverpool to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army on Jan. 6 in a ceremony at the Pentagon in the Washington, D.C.
Joining Liverpool, a graduate of West Hempstead High School, at the ceremony were his wife, Elizabeth, daughters, Madeline and Marissa, and his father, Dr. Richard Liverpool.
Lt. Cl. Liverpool was born on Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas and raised in West Hempstead. He enlisted in the Army in 1994, and is a veteran of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and currently serves on the Army staff. Liverpool’s awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge. The American Flag used in the ceremony has traveled with Liverpool to Iraq and Afghanistan.
