Arrests made in May 7 Elmont robbery

Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of three Queens men for a robbery that occurred in Elmont on Monday, May 7 at 6:48 p.m.

According to detectives, the three men one 18-year-old and two 17-year-olds, demanded money from a taxi driver after receiving a ride from Jamaica to Elmont. One subject grabbed the victim by the shirt collar, pulling it tight, choking him. The victim complied and handed over cash. The subjects exited the cab and the victim drove away and called police. Fifth Precinct police officers responded and located the three defendants on Ridge Road, and after a positive identification by the victim, were placed under arrest. No injuries were reported. Each of the suspects is being charged with second-degree robbery, and were scheduled to be arraigned on May 8 in First District Court, Hempstead.
