The Miraculous Mandarin
Zubin Mehta, above, conducts the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on Jan. 17. The program will include Bela Bartok's "The Miraculous Mandarin: and Richard Strauss's "Ein Heldenleben." Bartok's work is a score to an exotic ballet, while Strauss's composition lushly toned poem and six-part thematic piece. Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, C.W. Christmas From the Heart
Kenny Rogers will be stopping at the Westbury Music Fair on Dec. 21 and 22 as part of his tour, "Christmas From the Heart." The show begins with Rogers taking the audience on a musical journey through life in a small town, complete with snowfall, performing such songs as "The Christmas Song," "Let It Snow" and "White Christmas." Later, a nativity scene comes to life as the children and choir join Rogers for his special performance of "The Chosen One."
