Connie Francis
Since her first hit single, "Who's Sorry Now" in 1958, Connie Francis has been delighting audiences with her heart-warming style. In 1960, Francis's "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" also hit Number 1 on the charts, and was produced in six different languages. In 1963, Francis performed for Queen Elizabeth and "American Bandstand" voted her "Bert Female Vocalist" for seven consecutive years. 'Fleeing Hitler's Oppression'
The exhibit "Twentieth-Century Exiles: Fleeing Hitler's Oppression" will open at the Nassau County Museum of Art on Nov. 18. The paintings and artifacts of WWII-era explores how the exiled artists of that time drastically altered art and intellectual life in the countries that offered them refuge. Among the artists represented are Chagall, Leger, Lipschitz, Grosz, Kandinsky and Klee. Above is Oskar Kokoschka's "View from the Artist's House" of 1933.
