The forum will be on Thursday, April 23, from noon to 2 p.m. in the meeting room at the Merrick Library, 2279 Merrick Ave.
The hearing is one of several that the task force is holding throughout New York state in an effort to implement a comprehensive strategy to better address the confinement and control of sexual predators.
"At the forum, we will explore and review what has taken place, legislatively and in the community, since the Sex Offender Watch forum in Merrick in 2007," McDonough said. "Testimony heard at the event will help legislators determine what has been effective in the past and what needs to be addressed and improved in the future."
Assembly Republican sex-offender measures include a "Three Strikes and You're In" provision for life imprisonment, and tighter criminal procedures, post-release requirements and cyber predator laws.
