Athletes Helping Athletes talks to students

Posted

Members of Central High School’s Athletes Helping Athletes Club visited Wheeler Avenue Elementary School on December 4. Through AHA, Central juniors and seniors paid an enthusiastic visit to their younger peers at elementary schools throughout the district. Their mission was to strike connections and advise them on how to make good decisions both on the field and in the classroom.

As part of the visit, club members were assigned to different classes, in which they introduced themselves and explained the purpose of the club. The high school role models shared personal stories about themselves, including how the mistakes they have made and lessons they have learned have shaped them into the better leaders and athletes they are today.

Then, the Wheeler classes took part in fun, interactive icebreakers, during which students shared positive things about themselves and got to know one another better.

The AHA students have two more visits scheduled for Wheeler Avenue this school year, and they look forward to building on the relationships they began with their elementary school counterparts.
