Atlantic Beach will now join the other 549 villages in the state which have their own zoning.
In final yet unofficial results from the Nassau County Board of Elections, the tally was 59,191 to 50, 775, in favor of zoning. About 54 percent of those who cast their ballot for the proposition voted "Yes."
Atlantic Beach was incorporated in 1962 and the county charter stated that any village incorporated after 1938 would be without zoning powers, giving that authority to the town in which the village is situated
