Baldwin Kiwanis celebrates special night at Coral House

The Coral House was the site of very special event earlier this month when the Baldwin Kiwanis celebrated individuals in the community who care. The Kiwanis normally meets at the Coral House on Tuesdays, but this occasion was distinguished by the presence of standouts including: Anthony Santino, Town of Hempstead Councilman; Brian Curran, NY State Assemblyman for district 14; Marty Connor and Robert Elbogen of the State Farm agencies in Baldwin; several members of the Baldwin Key Club, and Greg Abbate, Lt. Governor for the Long Island Kiwanis, Southwest Division.

The night marked the last in office for Andre Mason, outgoing President of the Baldwin Kiwanis, and it was an auspicious one. The evening began when Abbate recognized the new officers for the Baldwin Kiwanis: Ralph Rose (President), Anton Murphy (Vice-President), Joe Alberti (Treasurer) and Tony Tarantino (Secretary,) these introductions were followed by Marty Connor and Robert Elbogen, who presented a $5000 check from State Farm to the club in support of its work with children. (The first event that benefitted from this largess was the PAL Halloween party on Oct. 31.)

The night continued when Anthony Santino swore in the new officers for the Kiwanis, then the Key Club addressed the group. Assemblyman Curran closed the festivities, delivering some kind words acknowledging the community service and dedication of the organization.
