Baldwin man dies after running naked on Merrick Rd.

Christian Collado, 31, a resident of Baldwin, died on June 6 after briefly running naked along Merrick Road near Grand Avenue and trying to gain access to a commuter bus.

Collado’s tragic journey, police said, began around 8 a.m., and reports were trickling in to the First Precinct of an unclothed male running in traffic at about 8:16. According to a news release from the Nassau County Police Department an officer arriving on the scene saw a man “pounding on the door of a commuter bus attempting to gain entry.” To “prevent the aided from injuring himself or others he was placed into handcuffs,” the report said, going on to explain the individual suffered an “unknown medical emergency," while in police custody.

Medical assistance was provided at the scene, the NCPD said, and Collado was taken to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 8:56 a.m.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
