Alvarado has been the director of Baldwin Little League's Challenger
Division for 11 years, as well as the Baldwin Little League vice president. Alvarado was nominated for the Make a Difference award by one of his player's parents. On Saturdays, Alvarado helps 25 kids in the Challenger program, aimed at building confidence and self-esteem.
Many of the children in the program have autistic spectrum disorder and interacting with others is often challenging. The league functions as a rare opportunity to take part in physical activity and a chance to socialize.
