Philip Eye and Matthew Schenker have been named semifinalists, who will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for over 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards worth $34 million, to be offered in the spring.
Jonathan Brandvein, Bret Kugelmass, Michael Mezzina, Rahul Prabhakar, and Caroline Weisser have been named as Commended Students. Although these students will not advance in the competition, they are recognized nonetheless for their exceptional academic promise by their PSAT scores.
More than 1 million students took the 2003 PSAT last October, which automatically entered them into the National Merit Scholarship Program. The seven Baldwin students were among the 50,000 highest scores nationwide. The semifinalists are among 16,000 students now competing to become National Merit Finalists.
