A Baldwin resident was shot in the head at approximately 10:40 A.M., Wednesday, September 13. Police are considering drugs a possible motive.
According to First Precinct officers, four unidentified black males entered a home on Brooklyn Avenue and, after an altercation, shot Timothy Maxwell, 22, in the head.
Mr. Maxwell was taken by emergency helicopter services to Nassau County Medical Center where he remained in "very critical condition" at press time, according to hospital spokesperson Shelley Lotenberg.
The perpetrators were observed fleeing westbound on Brooklyn Avenue in a small vehicle. They are described as four male blacks, two between 5'6" and 5'8" with thin builds and two between 6' and 6'2" with heavy builds.
No arrests have been made and according to Inspector Anthony Rocco, they are still conducting an active investigation.
Residents attending an emergency community meeting with the police concerning the number of occupied burglaries in Baldwin this month asked if the two were related.
"[The shooting is] not related to the burglary pattern," the inspector answered. "What I can say about it is that it was not a random home invasion. It was targeted. I wouldn't rule out any motive but I certainly wouldn't rule out a drug motive."
One Baldwin resident said that the fire department is often called to the Brooklyn Avenue area and the recent event was not a surprise. "I mean you knew the bishop and his wife didn't live in that house."
