Robin Fields, 23, was arrested in Valley Stream on Friday, March 11 at 3:55 p.m. by police detectives in the Nassau County Robbery Squad and the New York Department of Justice's Regional Task Force in connection with the following:
A robbery at the North Fork Bank, 1800 Grand Avenue in Baldwin on Jan. 11.
An attempted robbery at Bank of America, 1150 Grand Ave. in Baldwin on Feb. 17.
A robbery at North Fork Bank, 356 North Central Avenue in Valley Stream on Dec. 23.
A robbery at HSBC Bank, 260 Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream on Feb. 17.
Fields is charged with two counts of robbery in the second degree, one for each of the two Valley Stream incidents, and one count of robbery in the second degree for the Jan. 11 incident in Baldwin and one count of attempted robbery in the second degree for the incident in Baldwin on Feb. 17.
The attempted robbery of the Baldwin bank on Feb. 17 involved a bungled attempt by Field that was thwarted by a bank security guard. According to police, Fields entered the Bank of America and was immediately pegged as suspicious looking. As a guard attempted to approach Fields, the suspect dropped a handgun in the ATM vestibule, picked up his weapon and fled the bank on foot.
Police say Fields robbed the HSBC Bank in Valley Stream less than an hour later, handing a teller a demand note while brandishing his weapon.
Fields was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday, March 12. Details on Fields capture and arrest were not available at press time.
