Also on the ballot will be races for school board members and library board members, which are all uncontested in Oceanside and Island Park.
Oceanside school district
The Oceanside School District's $124.4 million proposed budget which is $2.3 million more than last year is the smallest increase the district has proposed in 25 years.
In 2009-10, the Assessor's office calculated the average home value in Oceanside to be $492,800, which would make the average school tax $6,324.87, an increase of about $150 from last year.
"As far as the Oceanside budget is concerned we have an increase of 1.89 percent, which is lower than the county average for the sixth year in a row," said Oceanside School District Superintendent Dr. Herb Brown. "Our spending per pupil is $25 million under the county average."
Brown said that the district didn't trim any programs that would affect students, instead cutting costs on non-essential supplies and positions that could be cut back because of declining enrollment. Staff reductions will save the district approximately $800,000.
"I think its important for people to come out to vote," said Brown.
