Bellmore districts head back to school

€ In the North Bellmore Elementary School District, recently re-elected Trustee Joe Perrone, the board's former vice president, was named as board president, and Nina Lanci became vice president. Trustees Mary Oporto, the former president, and Rosemarie Corless were joined by newcomer Grace Cramsie. The board's next meeting will take place on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Martin Avenue School.
€ In the Bellmore Elementary District, Trustee Richard Narby, the board's former vice president, was named president, and Steve Traum was chosen as vice president. Trustees Janet Goller, recently re-elected Marion Blane and Ted Tanenbaum continue to serve. The board's next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Winthrop Avenue Elementary School.
€ Also, each of the four local elementary boards - Bellmore and North Bellmore, as well as Merrick and North Merrick - selected two of their trustees to serve on the Central High School District Board of Education. This year's Central District board comprises President Dr. Matthew Kuschner, Vice President Nina Lanci, Janet Goller, Joseph Perrone, Ted Tanenbaum, John Pinto, Andrea Messinger and Diane Seaman. The board's next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the Brookside building in North Merrick.
District superintendents have also been getting ready for the opening of the new school year. They include Dominic Mucci in North Bellmore, Sheldon Dumain in Bellmore and Dr. Henry Kiernan in the Central High School District. The first day of school for all of the districts is Wednesday, Sept. 6.
Also during the summer, officers of each individual school's PTA met to begin organizing activities for the new school year. There is a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at each of the schools in the North Bellmore and Bellmore districts. For the Central High School District, students and parents are invited to join the Parent Teacher Student Associations (PTSA) at Grand Avenue Middle School and at each high school. Membership information is sent home to all student households early in the fall, and the schedule of meetings is provided on district calendars.
