The gymnasium of John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore roared with life last Thursday night, as students and faculty from Cougar Nation came out to compete in the most highly-anticipated event of the school year: Class Night.
The annual event occurs during Spirit Week, pitting the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes against one another in an epic battle of strength, talent, determination and wit.
Each class picks a theme to represent during the evening. The teams were: Freshmen on Fire; Sophs Safari; Disney Juniors; and Roaring 20s Seniors. This year’s Class Night was particularly special, as it was the first time teachers and administrators were invited to compete with the class of their choice.
To kickoff the evening, each team performed choreography for the dance competition. Then, students participated in a variety of relays, including a scooter race, Dizzy Izzy, a basketball shootout and a potato sack sprint. The night capped off with a nail-biting game of musical chairs, in which the juniors were victorious. But that didn’t stop the senior class from clinching the coveted first-place title.
