Bellmore softball squads make tourney championship

The Bellmore Little League's U10 and U12 softball teams recently played for the championship game in the East Meadow Summer Sizzle tournament at the East Meadow Complex.

Teams came from throughout Long Island for the competition. The Bellmore BlueFire U10 team shocked its division by making it to the championship game against Plainedge. First the squad had to defeat Farmingdale and then a powerful Massapequa team. In the end, the BlueFire defeated both teams to make it to the final game. While the squad finished in second place, the team exceeded expectations for the season, according to the girls' coaches. The U10 team comprises Kaitlin Maniscalco, Jeannette Kropp, Natalie Murray, Lillianne Gering, Jackie Clifford, Jillian Goldhirsch, Taylor Niola, Azaria Vargas, Peyton Fishman, Kaitlyn Judd, Amanda Maffucci, Elizabeth Kutil, Samantha Bendig, Ruth Bergman and Danielle Polirer.

The Bellmore BlueFire U12 team had no easy task in the championship game in East Meadow. First the team had to defeat Sea Cliff and then the Bethpage Gold Elite 12U team. The Bethpage Gold game was won in the last inning with impeccable base running and timely hitting, said the squad's coaches. The BlueFire lost to the East Meadow U12 team in the championship round. The BlueFire comprises Ashley Boscarino, Alexa Boscarino, Mairead Ryan, Brianna Maniscalco, Nicole Mocchio, Nicole Aliberti, Amanda Steinberg, Emily Madden, Kristina Barry, Victoria Bova, Katie Grodski, Sara Coluccio, Jamie Kanner and Tori Rinck.
