Speculation has surrounded Sutton's status since his announcement at the Feb. 13 village board meeting that he had been transferred out of state by his employer. Although Sutton did not disclose when the transfer would be effective, he did say that his wife and daughter had already moved out of state. He also said he was still a resident of Rockville Centre.
Sutton's residency is being questioned by board members and residents. Reports are circulating throughout the village regarding moving vans appearing at Sutton's house, portable storage facilities on his property and the sale of his house.
Trustees Mulry and Karamouzis sent a letter to Murray on March 13, requesting that the special meeting of the board take place on March 16. In a reply to the trustees dated March 14, the mayor replied that there would be no meeting on March 16 because the other three board members would be unavailable.
Trustees Mulry and Karamouzis then issued a response to the mayor, also date March 14. In which they once again called for the special meeting and proposed adate of Monday March 20.
As of press, time no official response had been recieved from the mayor's office.
