Police suspect homicide in death of Brooklyn man

A body was found in the trunk of a car in Oceanside on April 15, the victim of an apparent homicide.

According to detectives, at 1:35 p.m. a Fourth Precinct police officer responded to a call for a possible recovered stolen car on Academy Street in Oceanside. Upon arrival, the officer discovered a 2011 Hyundai Sonata with traces of blood in the vehicle.

An Emergency Services Unit was called and responded to open the trunk of the vehicle. Upon opening the trunk, the body of a deceased white male was discovered.

The victim, who died of an apparent gunshot wound, was removed to the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s Morgue. He was identified as Daniel Scialom, 32, of Brooklyn, who had been reported missing in New York City on April 15. The vehicle was impounded for processing.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
