Elmont Memorial High School science research student Akanitoro Brown won a bronze medal at the International Sustainable World Energy Engineering Environment Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP) held in Houston, Texas.
According to its website, I-SWEEEP’s mission is to create a collaborative yet competitive environment in which students can present their innovative ideas on today’s challenges in energy, engineering and the environment, and creating a more sustainable world for tomorrow. Brown competed in the category of Environmental Science-Management and Pollution with his project, “Detection of Engineered Metal Oxide Nanoparticles in Natural Soil Matrices: A Novel Spectrophotometric and Selective Flotation Approach.” He won a bronze medal and $150.
Principal John Capozzi commended Brown on this outstanding achievement.
