According to team officials, no Buccaneers team has seen or won a championship since 1994. Beyond the strong teamwork and gameday performance exhibited by the players, volunteer coaches and advisers provided the guidance and the cheerleaders encouraged the team on to its first championship in over a decade.
The Buccaneers were also successful in all age groups, boasting other playoff and undefeated squads. Team officials said it was the best overall season in the history of the program.
Many players from the Inwood Buccaneers youth football squad have gone on to play for the 2006 Long Island Champion and current Nassau County Champion Lawrence Golden Tornadoes high school football team. Some have even moved on to the college ranks. The Buccaneers offer football for an array of age groups. During football's offseason, the Buccaneers also sponsor indoor soccer and basketball teams.
