An Elmont man and two others were arrested last week and charged in connection with multiple burglaries in Valley Stream and Elmont, police said.
Following the three arrests Nov. 18, Nassau County police closed the cases on approximately 25 burglaries in the past three months in Valley Stream and Elmont, according to Detective Sgt. John Roden of the Fifth Precinct.
Leon Guy, 26, of 51 Fallon Ave. in Elmont, is charged with four counts of second-degree burglary for thefts that occurred on Oct. 28 and Nov. 5 and 16, Roden said. Defendants Dina Jones, 39, of 547 Bridge St. in Phoenixville, Pa., and Pierce Rivera, 17, of 25 4th St. in Coatsville, Pa., are each charged with two counts of second-degree burglary for two thefts that occurred Nov. 16, according to Roden. He declined to release the exact locations of the burglaries, but said they occurred in the Valley Stream/Elmont vicinity.             The trio could face additional charges, Roden said.
"Based on what we know so far, there are approximately 25 other burglaries that were committed," Roden said. "The additional 25 burglaries, we believe, were committed by defendant Guy."
Nassau County police made the three arrests in cooperation with the New York City Police Department. According to Roden, the defendants were arrested Nov. 17 in the city on unrelated drug charges. They were allegedly in possession of stolen property. Following an investigation, it was determined that the property had been reported stolen from homes in Valley Stream and Elmont.
It is unclear what the relationship among the defendants is, Roden said, but defendant Guy maintains residences in Elmont and with defendant Jones.
According to a police department press release, the defendants targeted multiple-dwelling units. They entered through front doors and removed items including jewelry and cash, and the majority of the burglaries were committed during the day, Roden said.
