On October 9, at about 7:15 a.m., Lynbrook firefighters and medical personnel were dispatched to a reported overturned vehicle at Sunrise Highway and Broadway. The vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was about 100 feet west of the that intersection, and had crashed into a pillar at the Long Island Railroad train station.
According to witnesses, the Explorer was heading west on Sunrise Highway when it collided with another vehicle at the intersection. The Explorer then flipped a number of times along the sidewalk and took down a light stanchion. It finally landed back on its wheels under the station. The driver climbed out of the vehicle and was walking around with a bleeding hand when police and firefighters arrived. Medical Company personnel attended to the driver and transported him to the hospital.
