The 23-year-old Suffolk County resident was driving through the movie theater parking lot at about 8 p.m. when he noticed a man exiting what was described as a dark 1989 Honda Accord from the passenger-side front door, according to Officer Stan Slevinski, Fifth Precinct crime analyst. The Suffolk man stopped his vehicle when he saw the suspect point a handgun at a woman who was walking through the parking lot. The suspect demanded the woman's purse, which she handed over. The suspect then ripped a gold chain from the woman's neck, Slevinski said.
The suspect walked toward the Suffolk man, who was sitting in his 2000 Honda Accord. The suspect pointed the gun at him and said, "Get out of the car, brethren," according to Slevinski. The suspect then got into the man's car and fled the scene through the northeast parking lot exit, followed by the other Honda, which was being driven by a second suspect.
The woman, an 18-year-old from Jamaica, and the Suffolk man walked to his father's house in Queens and called police. New York City police responded to the victim's father's house and notified Nassau County police of the crime, Slevinski said.
      No injuries were reported.
The first suspect was described as approximately 20, with a dark complexion, Afro-style hair and a stocky build. He spoke with a West Indian accent, police said. There is no description of the second suspect.
Police ask anyone with information about these robberies to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
