Carey names its November seniors of the month

Saying that November’s female senior of the month, Nicole Palzzolo, is involved in H. Frank Carey High School is an understatement. She is a highly intelligent and insightful young lady who has done exceptionally well at school and in the community. She has showcased her leadership abilities as president of the Math Honor Society and Mathletes, vice-president for Model UN, secretary for both Class Board and the Business Honor Society and publicist for the National Honor Society. She is also an esteemed member of the Foreign Language and Science Honor Societies, FBLA, Mock Trial and Operation: Respect. This senior phenom is also an accomplished student-athlete who letters in track and cheerleading. Outside of Carey, Nicole has volunteered for the Long Island Marathon, the NAAR Walk for Autism, Relay for Life and the Save Darfur Walk. On top of her extracurricular activities, she also finds time to work 12 hours a week.
Hegler recognized for all-around achievements
Bright and determined, Jonathan Hegler epitomizes the heart and soul of Carey High School. A standout academically and a leader in the classroom, he is a member of the National, Music and Foreign Language Societies. A founding member of Operation: Respect, he is also the Recording Secretary for the Class of 2008. Each summer, his welcoming smile helps incoming Seventh Graders and their families at Orientation. A true scholar-athlete, this versatile young man has been a valuable member of the Varsity Lacrosse team since Grade 9. In 2006, he was awarded the Sportsmanship Award and in 2007, he received the Seahawk Spirit Award. His energetic and generous presence is also felt in the surrounding community where he serves as a coach for PAL Lacrosse and Franklin Square’s Lacrosse Camp. His altruism is genuine and he finds time to lend a hand at the Huntington Homeless Shelter. He is a well-rounded young man of impeccable character.
