The men, including truck driver Daniel Rodriguez, 30, of Hempstead Turnpike, were charged with one count of attempting to disseminate indecent materials to a minor, an E Felony.
Police said detectives from Suffolk County's Computer Crimes Unit posed as 13-year old boys and girls in Internet chat rooms and scheduled dates with the men over the course of a month, inviting them to meet for sex at a house in central Suffolk. Police said Rodriguez was one of 13 men who showed up at the house and was immediately arrested. According to Suffolk County District Attorney's office spokeswoman Cindy Topper, Rodriguez was arrested in January and arraigned in Suffolk County Court on Jan. 28. He posted the $5,000 bail set by Judge Paul Hensley, Topper said.
Police did not release any specific information about Rodriguez, but according to a Suffolk County Jail spokeswoman, he has no prior criminal record. His next court date is June 16.
"If they plead guilty or are convicted, they will be registered as Level 1 sex offenders, and that designation lasts 20 years," said Det. Mark Griffith of the Computer Crimes Unit.
