Gershow Recycling named Central High School student Sara Guagliano as one of three recipients in Nassau County to earn its environmental conservation scholarship on June 29.
Guagliano, a graduating senior from Central, received the $1,000 scholarship from Gershow for her pursuit of a degree in the environmental science and engineering field.
Gershow Recycling takes aluminum, brass, copper, steel, cast iron, appliances, cars and vehicles. The company purchases scrap metal that would have otherwise wound up in local landfills, and turns them into high-quality scrap products for recycling. The company has nine locations, including one in Valley Stream on East Hawthorne Avenue.
