for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals in acts of vandalism, burglary and graffiti against properties in the community. Chamber officer Emilio Manzo wanted residents to be reminded of this reward in light of the recent torching of the Martin Avenue School playground.
"We are very concerned with the different types of vandalism that are occurring within our community," he said. "We have in the past been very successful in offering" the reward.
He also said, "If we choose to close our eyes every time there is even the slightest occurrence," Manzo said, "we will be setting ourselves up for a big disappointment, and our community will deteriorate. Talk with your children, ask questions, see if they know who may be at fault."
Anyone who witnesses incidents of vandalism is asked to call the Nassau County Police Department at 911 if the crime is occurring, and to call the chamber office with information at (516) 679-1875. All calls are kept confidential.
Vandals torched equipment at Martin Avenue School on Sunday, Jan. 7, causing damage to a slide and charring the metal supports to which it was attached, as well as the ground area below that area of the playground.
