The City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, March 7, at 5:15 p.m. for a proposed resolution that would authorize the city manager to purchase a new ambulance for the city’s fire department, which is in need of a new emergency vehicle.
According to the meeting’s agenda, which is accessible on the city’s website at www.longbeachny.org, the city is looking into purchasing a new Ford Medallion E-Super 170 Ambulance from Plainview-based Specialty Vehicle Sales Corp.
The resolution would allow the city to obtain financing through Laurel Mountain Leasing, of Pennsylvania, and allow the city to take ownership of the ambulance at the end of a five-year lease.
The financing of $144,423 for the vehicle has a rate of 4.29 percent over a five-year lease period, with quarterly payments of $8,105.98 that would begin at the start of the 2011-12 fiscal year.
