Long Beach City Manager Charles T. Theofan has announced the appointment of the City’s Environmental Advisory Board. The group of seven men and women will explore resources pertaining to environmental issues such as solar and alternative energy use and ways to reduce air and water pollution. They will also investigate sources of funding and will institute plans for public education and awareness programs.
Environmental Board members are Co-Chairs Bill Hostetter and Neal Monteko, left, Sarah Nicholas, Sandra Patrick, Peter Breitstone and Sheri Cavera with Department of Public Works Commissioner Kevin Mulligan, who will be the liaison between the city and the board. Not pictured is Lisa Goodman.
“The board is comprised of concerned citizens from many walks of life who have previously expressed a keen interest in the quality of life issues for our City,” Theofan said. “They will be able to concentrate on specific issues and offer sensible solutions, and will complement the other eco-friendly efforts that are being made in the City.”
The Environmental Advisory Board’s monthly meetings are posted on the City’s website at www.longbeachny.org. The next meeting will be held on June 3.
