The city will present its annual fireworks show this evening, with a rain date scheduled for Saturday, July 13.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. with a beach concert featuring Alive n' Kickin performing their hit “Tighter and Tighter” and other favorites ranging from reggae to Sinatra.

The bandwagon will be set up on Long Beach Boulevard. The fireworks display by Bay Fireworks will begin at approximately 9 p.m. from a barge in the ocean and can be seen throughout the city. Though construction is still ongoing, the city announced that two blocks of the new boardwalk — from Long Beach Boulevard to Edwards Boulevard — will be open to the public temporarily for viewing purposes.

In addition to the fireworks, there will be several craft vendors and food vendors. Activities for kids will also be available from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., including a bounce house, water slide, face painting, games and more.

City officials said that large crowds are expected tonight, and those attending the show should expect delays. Spectators can watch the show form anywhere along the beach. Free shuttle buses will run from both the East and West Ends to Riverside Boulevard and back between the hours of 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Visit www.longbeachny.org for more information.
