The magnificent clock in the center of town is a 1,300-pound, handsome green forest cast-iron clock, standing 15 feet tall with an illuminated face, Roman numerals and spade hands. The clock was erected two years ago and was dedicated to Holzman, a Cedarhurst resident from 1955 to 1998. Village officials unveiled a brass plaque with the likeness of Holzman on it, which now adorns the foot of the clock.
Holzman was not only a sports legend known throughout the world but also a long-standing resident who was beloved throughout our beautiful village, said Village of Cedarhurst Mayor Andrew Parise. Both he and his wife Selma, who lived on Ocean Point Avenue for over 43 years, from 1955 to 1998, enriched our lives. While time marches on in the Holzman Clock, it is our honor and pleasure to dedicate it to stand in his memory.
On hand to help dedicate the clock were former Knicks Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere and Cal Ramsey and team executives, as well as state, county and town officials. A couple of hundred people attended the dedication ceremony.
