Residents of Cochran Place were told by police to stay in their homes following a possible home invasion early Wednesday morning at about 3 a.m. Police only confirmed that they were investigating an assault and a spokesperson said the investigation was continuing.
A resident of the street, who asked not to be identified, said that she woke up around 6 a.m. and saw several police cars and SWAT trucks on the street. She said after going outside to find out what was happening, she was told to return to her home. The resident said that Cochran Place all the way from Roosevelt Avenue to the firehouse was closed.
Mayor Ed Cahill said that he received a call about the incident at 6:30 a.m. and was there by 6:45. Cahill said it was about that time that the street was re-opened and people were allowed to leave.
More details will be published as they become available.
