On Sunday, June 24, the East Rockaway Fire Department Cold Ducks Drill Team participated in the Fourth Battalion Drill in Woodmere Park. This drill is a competition event between neighboring departments wherein members practice stretching and coupling hose, accuracy in hitting targets with water streams, climbing ladders and hauling buckets of water (the bucket brigade).

Such events are timed with the department with the best times receiving awards.

“These events are highly beneficial for bringing members together from different companies and departments and improving morale,” said Chief Steve Torborg. “East Rockaway’s members did a great job, and a good time was had by all.”
