Among the honorees was Megan McEntee, an East Meadow resident, who graduated from East Meadow High School. She plans to attend St. John¹s University in Queens and major in business.
During her tenure in high school, McEntee was active in the National Honor Society, Italian Honor Society and track and field. She was also a member of peer leaders and tutored math and science.
The American Dream Scholarships Program awarded scholarships to 225 community service-oriented high school seniors within the bank¹s market area of more than 430 stores. In all, the bank has donated $225,000 in scholarship this year.
The ceremony took place during the branch¹s annual Championship golf tournament reception on June 13, at the East Meadow branch at 1600 Hempstead Turnpike.
The reception was co-sponsored by the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club.
Frank Ryan, branch bank manager, said that this is the third year that the bank has sponsoring the event. ³This is a PGA Championship ,² he said. ³This is the third year that the bank has sponsored the event. All the seniors playing are in their 50¹s, but they were once all in the regular PGA tour.²
The golf tournament began on June 25th, and will conclude on July 1.
