Carnival. Yours, Ours, Mine Community Center is presenting its second carnival/harvest festival from Sept. 16 through 19th. Rock show. Calvary Lutheran Church, 36 Taylor Ave., is holding its next Calvary Show on Friday, Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Seven bands, including Valet Parking, Perfect Endings and Code Adrenaline, are playing. Playtime registration. Christ the King Church, at Fifth Street and DeWolfe Place, is now accepting Playtime School registrations for the September 2004 through June 2005 sessions. Registration for 3-year-olds are onTuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration for 4-year-olds are on those same days, but from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children of all denominations welcome. Library Events
Browsing room. During August the Browsing Room Showcases at the library will be home for the entries of the Young Adult Photography Show sponsored by the Dubno Family and the library. This year has been called the "best" by judge Robert Harrison.
The frogs. The hottest ticket in town is still available through the East Meadow Public Library. The library was able to procure orchestra seats to "The Frogs,"a comedy at the Lincoln Center starring the incomparably brilliant Nathan Lane. Cost for this hard-to-get ticket, transportation and gratuities is $103. Bus leaves from the parking lot at 11 a.m. Call (516) 794-2570, ext. 560 for more information.
Meet the Mets. The library is organizing a trip to Shea Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 2 to see the Mets take on the Florida Marlins. Tickets cost $48.25 and includes transportation. Lunch not included. Tickets went on sale Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 9 a.m. in the public relations office.
Chess. Every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., the Adult Chess Club meets at the library. All players are welcome to attend and play. Bring a board and chess set to the small conference room.
