Let's Get Acquainted brunch. Congregation Ohav Sholom will host a welcome weekend for families interested in learning about Ohav Sholom on Aug. 28 for services and Kiddush. Vanderbilt needs volunteers for race. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate activities planned for the 100th anniversary of The Vanderbilt Cup race on Oct. 8. 'Ain't Misbehavin' at The Stage. One of Broadway's best musical revues will be performed at The Stage. "Ain't Misbehavin" will run from Aug. 14 through Sept. 26 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m., with one performance on Thursday, Aug. 26, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $16. Incident Command training. The Wildfire and Incident Management Academy at Brookhaven National Laboratory will offer Wildfire and Incident Command System training courses on Oct. 22 to Nov. 1. Covered will be how to handle emergency situations that involve more than one agency responding to emergency situations. All are welcome. Fee: $45 per day before Oct. 1, $50 per day after that date. Sponsors needed. Any Bellmore Chamber of Commerce member interested in promoting a business at this year's 18th annual Bellmore Family Street Festival on Oct. 16 and 17 had until July 15 to commit to sponsoring the event. The cost is $180 per day for a solo sponsorship, or $90 for a shared sponsorship. A costumed character, arranged by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, will stroll the street festival grounds wearing a sign saying, "Sponsored by (name of business)," and will distribute the sponsor's promotional materials. See the Rockettes. AARP Merrick Bellmore Chapter 4258 and the Vianney 50+ Club will be going to Radio City on Monday, Dec. 6, to see the Rockettes holiday show at 2 p.m. Then they will go to dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at Del Frisco's Steakhouse. Merrick Library



New hours. The railroad station library will be open only Mondays and Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. The morning hours remain the same Monday through Friday, from 7 to 10 a.m.

Defensive driving. The next AARP defensive driving course will be on Tuesday, Aug. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Merrick residents may sign up at the Library Wing. There is a $10 fee. Non-Merrick residents can sign up starting Aug. 1. The course will be held at the North Merrick Library.

Bus trip to NYC. On Oct. 6, there will be a bus trip to the United Nations and Gracie Mansion. Lunch in the U.N. Delegates Dining Room included. The fee is $73 and is available for Merrick Library cardholders only. Sign up at the Merrick library wing.

Amish Cooking tour, wine tasting. On Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 7 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., a bus trip to the Amish country will include a cooking tour, wine tasting and pretzel-making demonstration. Opportunity to sample local jams, jellies and relishes at a local cannery also. Fee of $67 due at registration, which begins Friday, Aug. 20.

Book discussion group meet. Ann Packer's "The Dive From Clausen's Pier" will be discussed on Friday, Aug. 27, at 1:30 p.m.

Jewelry workshop. A workshop for jewelry, "Antique, Vintage & Collectable Jewelry" will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Bring two items of jewelry for a verbal evaluation.
