Country night. There will be a country blues concert at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in EisenhowerPark Aug. 6 starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. The theater is between parking fields 6 and 6A. There is no formal seating so concertgoers should bring folding chairs. Headache workshop. Dr. Brian Ferris is teaching the latest research on what causes headaches and safe, effective, drugless ways to treat and prevent headaches. Stop suffering, start living. Free concert. The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce is presenting a free concert of rock, folk an dblues on Sunday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. at the East Meadow town square. The town square is inside Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of East Meadow and Prospect avenues. Bring lawn chairs.
Fund-raiser. There will be a car wash and garage sale to raise money for the East Meadow Falcons, a juniors soccer team at the Citibank parking lot on Newbridge Road across from St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shop for bargains on used household items, toys and sporting goods and get your car cleaned.
Open house. The East Meadow Jewish Center, 1400 Prospect Ave., is having an open house brunch for prospective members on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For reservations or for more information call (516)483-4205 Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Playtime registration. Christ the King Church, at Fifth Street and DeWolfe Place, is now accepting Playtime School registrations for the September 2004 through June 2005 sessions. Registration for 3-year-olds are onTuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration for 4-year-olds are on those same days, but from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children of all denominations welcome. CRT membership. Community Reform Temple, 712 The Plain Road, is currently accepting applications for membership and its religious and Hebrew school. The temple is a liberal, full-service congregation serving both Jewish and interfaith families. Those interested can visit the temple any weekday or for Friday evening services. Library Events
Browsing room. During August the Browsing Room Showcases at the library will be home for the entries of the Young Adult Photography Show sponsored by the Dubno Family and the library. This year has been called the "best" by judge Robert Harrison.
Yoga. Pamela Furcht, a teacher with the East Meadow Dahn Yoga Center, will be at the library on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 12:30 p.m. This is wonderful exercise medium for the middle aged and older person. Bring a mat or large towel, wear loose comfortable clothing, sneakers or comfortable shoes, eat a light lunch, but no food or drink 30 minutes before class. Limited to 22 adults. Photo exhibit. "Faces of Liberty"is a photo journalism exhibit that's coming to the library on Aug. 12 at 12:30 p.m. The display puts human faces on complex civil liberty issues by documenting the challenges of average folks who faced adversity when standing up for what they believed in.

Cartoon event. The library will be presenting some of the earliest works of often overlooked animation innovator Max Fleischer on Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Fleischer is the creator of Coco the Clown, Popeye and Betty Boop. John Carpenter, a filmmaker and historian, will lead the discussion.
Faux fun. Decorative artist T.L. Katte has been to the Russian Tea Room to do the paintings for its walls. Now she is at the library to teach us how to do our own walls, furnituree, knick-knacks or gifts. This workship is for those working on their homes or for those wanting to learn a new hobby. It is on Thursday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A $10 materials fee is required. Sign up at the public relations desk in person starting Monday, Aug. 9 for this four-hour program. Coffee and tea will be served, please bring lunch or a snack.
Meet the Mets. The library is organizing a trip to Shea Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 2 to see the Mets take on the Flordia Marlins. With the race tightening up in the National League East division, this should prove to be an important matchup with postseason implications. Tickets cost $48.25 and includes transportation. Lunch not included. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 9 a.m. in the public relations office.
Chess. Every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., the Adult Chess Club meets at the library. All players are welcome to attend and play. Bring a board and chess set to the small conference room.
