Fire department drill tournament will be held to benefit the Joe Hunter Memorial Fund. Hunter, a fire fighter with the Fire Department of New York, was killed on Sept. 11, 2001. He was also a member of the South Hempstead Fire Department. The tournament will be held at Hempstead's Fireman's Arch on Weir Street. Some of the best teams in the state are expected to compete in many ladder, hydrant and truck events. Food and drink will be available. For more information, call (516) 644-8998.

"The Autobiography of God: As Told to Mel Schneider" by playwright Marvin Siegel will be presented as part of the Center for Christian/Jewish Studies at Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., in the Hays Theater. The Molloy College Theatre Group will perform the dark comedy about a frustrated deity's visit to earth whose intent is to convince people to stop praying. Admission is $8, $5 for students. Just One Will: A Shakespeare Revue featuring the Corthurnus Players performing monologues from "The Tempest" and "Macbeth" to name a few, as well as offering interesting insights into the life and times of Shakespeare.

Childe Hassam, American Impressionist is the subject of a slide lecture by Irene Wisoff. The lecture will take a new look at Hassam's distinctive images in which he created enchanting effects of color and light, capturing striking portrayals of Boston, Paris and New york and nostalgic interpretations of country sites.

Wednesday, June 30, 1 p.m.

Starbooks Cafe will feature a discussion on "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon. The program is for girls with (or without) their moms to discuss the book and have some snacks. The book is about Christopher, an autistic math genius, who decides to investigate the murder of a neighbor's dog and ends up uncovering secret information about his own life.
