March Bus Trip. Chase away the winter blahs by joining a trip to Manhattan with the Baldwin Public Library. First stop is Grand Central Station, next stop is lunch at Chez Suzette, followed by a visit to the Forbes Gallery. Registration begins Wednesday, Feb. 11. Tickets are non-refundable. AARP Tax Assistance. The library is offering free AARP tax assistance on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Wednesday, Feb. 4 through Friday, April 9. On Wednesdays, help is offered from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. The service is available to all low- and middle-income people with an emphasis on, but not limited to, senior citizens.

Meet the Easter Bunny. The Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is holding its Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at Baldwin High School. Pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee will be served. There will also be prizes, pony rides and a chance for the kiddies to meet the Easter Bunny. Admission is $2 per person.

Health fair open and free to the public, at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale. Easter Fun Day. Calvary Protestant Church, at 2801 Park Avenue, Baldwin, will be hosting a special community event, Easter Fun Day, with a variety of games and crafts, flower potting, refreshments, an egg hunt, and a story time about Easter. All children aged three to eleven are invited to attend. Parents are also welcome, but must attend with children under six. The event is free and will be held rain or shine. Day of Reconciliation. The Diocese of Rockville Centre is once again offering a special Day of Reconciliation on the Monday of Holy Week, April 5. Every parish in the diocese will have priests available that day from 3 to 5 p.m. to here confessions. This is in addition to the regular scheduled times the sacrament is available at each parish.

Calling All Photographers. Applications are available for photographers interested in participating in the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport's 24th annual Juried Photography Show to be held at the Freeport Library from April 1 to 29. Ezra Center. Do you have a child who needs to build their social skills? Groups are available right in your neighborhood at the Ezra Center for People With Disabilities located at the Barry and Florence Friedberg JCC. This winter the Ezra Center is offering a number of programs for children (with ADHD; ADD; Aspergers; PDD; Autism; Learning Disabilities; and, Speech & Language Delays). Programs include arts and crafts, aquatics, and lessons on building physical and social skills. An interview is required for proper placement. Athletes needed. The Barry and Florence Friedberg JCC is forming its JCC Maccabi Team for the 2004 JCC Maccabi Games being held in Boston from August 15-20. The JCC Maccabi games are an Olympic-style event for athletes of Jewish Heritage. Delegations come from Israel, Canada, Poland, Mexico, and from all over the United States. Athletes enjoy high level competition as well as cultural and social events. The JCC is holding tryouts for roller hockey and boys basketball.Athletes must turn 13 by Aug. 1 and cannot turn 17 before Aug. 1. Hockey tryouts will be held Thursday, Feb. 12 & 19; Basketball tryouts take place Monday, Feb. 9 & 16.
