The Five Towns Senior
Center offers college-type courses five days a week at 124 Franklin Place, Woodmere. Members enjoy current events, discussions, music and art lectures; and bus trips, movies, museum visits, seasonal parties and live entertainment. Contract bridge and duplicate bridge are popular programs, along with dancing, flexercise, tai chi, painting, sculpture, creative writing and more. The center is a place for learning, for friends and for fun. Lunches may be purchased at a nominal charge. Membership is open to all over the age of 55; it is not necessary to be a Five Towns resident. 55 Alive Driving Course. Registration is now open for the "55 Alive" driving course given through AARP at the Young Israel Senior League, located at 2716 Healy Ave., Far Rockaway.

The Peninsula Public Library will be open Sundays in June from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday hours in June remain the same, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Peninsula Public Library has an extended summer loan policy available to all library members. Juvenile, young adult and adult books (no paperbacks) may be checked out for the summer beginning June 15, and will be due back Sept. 15. Each library member is entitled to borrow five books. The policy is for 28-day books only.
Peninsula Counseling Center, 124 Franklin Place, Woodmere, is introducing a support group for single adult women that will provide information, support, networking, and education. The Five Towns Community Chest's 46th annual Pro Am Golf - Practice Round and Auction Dinner will be held on Thursday, July 11. The Pro Am Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, at the Seawane Country Club. Besides the Seawane Club, the Inwood Club, Lawrence Golf Club, and Woodmere Club will be participating. Each club will be able to make their own teams of three amateurs, with the golf professional for each team being drawn from a pool. Participants must have a maximum handicap of 26 and have a USGA number and index to substantiate the same. There are limited playing opportunities for non-participating club members and one may sign up to play in the tournament as a three man team or as an individual. The Hewlett Business Association has scheduled its fifth anniversary dinner for Wednesday, July 31, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Woodmere Club, Club Drive, Woodmere.
Peninsula Counseling Center will be celebrating its 90th anniversary gala celebration on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Woodmere Club. Billed as a "Night of Laughter", the evening will feature a comedy cabaret as part of the festivities. Honorees for the evening include Executive Director Herb Ruben and past presidents of the agency.
