Mobile Passport. The Town of Hempstead Clerk’s Office is scheduled to bring its Mobile Passports service to the North
Bellmore Fire Department’s Engine Company 2 station at 829 Newbridge Road on Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m., a convenient way for community members to obtain the forms and take care
of the passport process.
Civic association meeting. The North Bellmore Civic Association will meet on Monday, Jan. 14, in North
Bellmore Public Library’s community room at 7 p.m. If you have a community issue you would like
discussed or addressed, the association encourages you to attend.
Square Dance. The Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Chai Club and the Couples/Family Club of the Suburban Temple, at 2900 Jerusalem
Ave. in in Wantagh, will sponsor their annual "Square Dance" on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 7:15 p.m. The cost is $29 per person. A professional caller, Lee
Kopman, will lead the event.There will be a chuckwagon hot dinner, snacks,

Defensive driving. St. Barnabas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Bellmore will offer a
defensive-driving course sponsored by the National Safety Council on Saturday,
Jan. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants receive a mandatory insurance

Gunther 50th anniversary. As Jacob Gunther Elementary School in North Bellmore plans its 50th anniversary
celebration, all Gunther families, including alumni, are invited to celebrate at a “Sock Hop” planned for Friday, March 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the gym, along with a “Walk Down Memory Lane” starting at 6 p.m. in the all-purpose room. To attend, RSVP to Bonnie Plantyn

Film entries. Submissions are being accepted for the Long Island International Film Expo, to
be held in July at the Bellmore Movies. Film and scriptwriting competition cut-off date is April 1 for films and treatments for scripts. For more information and

Book discussion. The book, “An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness,” by Kay Redfield Jamison will be the subject of discussion on Monday, Jan. 14,
