More book talk “After This” by Alice McDermott, is the story of a conservative, middle-class couple that faces challenges raising their family between World War II and the turbulent 1960s. The discussion is led by Seena Edelman  at 2 p.m. on Feb. 12.
Showtime "Your Neighbors, The Writers," Merilee Kaufman and Jerome Coopersmith read tasty tidbits of stories, articles, and poems inspired from the sophisticated palate of Hollywood stars. Tickets required for this event at 2 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Adults connecting Join Friedberg JCC’s Adult Connections Club, a group of both singles and couples, which meets every Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The calendar of events are as follows:
n January 10: Rodgers and Hammerstein Part II: The Richard Rodgers Story: Jack Schnur will lecture and perform. n January 17: Best Sellers and Hot Picks for 2008: Literary Expert Liz Roper will give us her list of the best for 2008
n January 24: Fighting Back: Letters from the Diaspora. Author Alan Katz will discuss his compelling new book.
n January 31: Long Island Heritage and the Gold Coast with Monica Randall from the North Shore Preservation Society.
n February 7: Cradle of Aviation: From a Dream to a Walk on the Moon. Tom Gwyne, Executive Director of the museum, will join us for a fascinating evening of aviation history and museum facts.
n February 14: Exotic Asian Travel. Travel to exotic lands such as Malaysia, China and Japan with travel consultant Lenny Halstuch.
n February 21: The Bible: The Old Testament on Film. Did you know the story of Moses was filmed in Brooklyn? Find out facts and trivia about the creator of some of the most famous Bible movies by director Cecil B. Demille.

Lunch & learn series The Friedberg JCC is offering a new series for learning, to be held twice monthly, and includes a lecture, dairy lunch and discussion group.
n January 23: Chagall, Modigliani & Beyond: Explore the life and times of some of the greatest Jewish artists of the 20th century including Peter Max, Max Rothko, Chaim Soutine, photographers Eisenstadt, Steichen and more.
n February 13: The Great Jewish American Musicians: Did you know Neil Sedaka was a piano student of the famous classical pianist Arthur Rubenstein? Billy Joel is the son of a Holocaust survivor? Come and hear many more little known facts about some of the greatest Jewish American musical masters. Lecture also includes photographs and musical clips. n February 27: Jewish Heroes: Who would be included on a Jewish Mount Rushmore? This lecture surveys the giants of Jewish history such as Moses, Einstein and Theodore Herzl, just to name a few. Also to be presented is a superb collection of photographs.

Maccabi Games tryouts Join teens from all over the world this summer at the 2008 JCC Maccabi games, an olympic-style event that brings Jewish athletes — from ages 13 to 16 — together to compete and share in our common culture and heritage. The Friedberg JCC is now recruiting athletes for tennis and basketball to compete in the games, to be held in Detriot from Aug. 15 to 22.  The basketball tryouts are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 6; 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 14; and 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 27.
