Pet appreciation day. The not-for-profit Bide-A-Wee Home is hosting Pet Appreciation Day on June 25 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at its Wantagh location, 3300 Beltagh Avenue.Bring your pets for a day of family fun. All pets must be animal/people friendly, leashed or in carriers, and up-to-date on vaccinations. Events include best costume and best trick contests, a parade of adoption center dogs, a blessing of the animals as well as informative talks for owners on such topics as obedience training.For more information, call Delores Stormo at785-4199, ext. 0.

Flea market. The Bellmore Lions Club will sponsor an Antiques, Collectibles and Handcrafts Flea Market on Sundays, July 2, 16 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bellmore Long Island Railroad Station at Bedford Avenue & Sunrise Highway. Classic movie. Bellmore Movies will offer Frantic Fran's Theatre Company's version of the classic cult movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show" featuring a live band on Friday nights at midnight on June 30, July 7, 21, and 28, and August 4, 11 and 18. Concert season. Plan ahead for subscription memberships to the Merrick-Bellmore Concert Association's 2006-2007 season. Series price for the season is $50 for adults and $25 for students. Events begin in October with the French Chamber Orchestra's All-Mozart concert, and culminate in April with a Benny Goodman tributre. For additional information, call 378-2199 or 868-5366.

Kennedy reunion. Plan ahead to attend the John F. Kennedy High School Class of 1976 -30th Reunion celebration. The event will take place on August 5 starting at 8 p.m. at Verdi's of Old Westbury. Call Maureen Hirten-Agostinacchio for more information at 781-0954.

Mammography testing. Mammography testing continues in the district of Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg. The van for mammography testing will take place on Wednesday, June 28, at the North Merrick Library. Testing is free for women over 40. Those who have health insurance (any insurance is accepted) must bring a prescription. Testing is free for those without insurance. Bring photo ID. Appointments necessary. Call 571-6219.

Songwriting workshop. Workshop for songwriters will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 7p.m. to 9 pm in the library's meeting room; free to all. This is an opportunity for anyone to present an original song to a group of serious songwriters and get helpful and experienced feedback.Bring musical instrument and/or at least 30 copies of your lyrics. Photo restoration. A workshop on "Restoring and Preserving your Photos" by using a computer scanner will be run by Stuart Gershon on Tuesday, June 27 at 7 p.m. All residents welcome. For information, call 785-2990.

Defensive driving class. Defensive driving for all ages will be held on Saturday, July 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $35 fee. Register in person at the reference desk.

AARP 55 Alive classes. An age 50+ driving class will be held on Thursday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $10 fee. Register in person at the reference desk.

Children's programs. "Tots at Night," a fun-filled program of singing, dancing and a craft project for children age 18 months to 5 years and their parent or caregiver will be held Thursday, June 29 at 7 p.m. In-person registration is required for these programs. Check with the Children's Services department for availability.

E-mail class. "All about E-mail" instructional class will be held on Friday, June 23, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn how to creat an e-mail account using popular providers and how to send, receive, forward and reply to e-mail and more. The fee is $21. Register in person at the reference desk.

Summer reading. Registration begins on June 26 for "Books: A Treasure," this year's summer reading club for children ages 3 and older. The program will feature great reading opportunities, chances to win prizes, and many fun-filled activities. In-person registration is required
