School's comedy fundraiser. The Newbridge PTA will hold their first Comedy Night Fundraiser at the Brokerage in Bellmore. The fundraiser will replace the PTA's annual auction this year. Prizes will be raffled between comedy routines. Only adults 21 and over may attend, and a two drink minimum will apply. All funds raised go to PTA sponsored educationally enriching programs. The fundraiser will be held on Sunday evening, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m.. Tickets are $15 per person, first come first serve. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT DOOR. Filing tax grievances. Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg will present forum on how to file a tax grievance with the Assessment Review Commission. Experts will be present at the meeting and answer related questions. The forum will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Merrick Library.
Local teens play the Tilles Center. Several area teens will play with Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 12. The Wind Symphony and Concert Band will perform at 2 p.m., and the Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform "An Evening of Jazz," at 7 p.m. Soloist John Marshall from L.I. blues band "Cadillac Moon" will perform with the Jazz Ensemble. Mammography testing. Mammography testing has come again to the district of Legislator Dave Denenberg. The van for mammography testing will be stationed at the following locations between 8:30 a.m. and 2:10 p.m.: on Wednesday, March 29 at the Wantagh Library; Tuesday, April 18 at Cure of Ars Church in Merrick; Thursday, May 25, 2006 at North Bellmore Library; Wednesday, June 28 at North Merrick Library.

PTA seeks donations for auction. The Dinkelmeyer School PTA is looking for local merchants, corporations and professionals who are interested in donating products for baskets or sponsorship of a grand prize at their fund-raiser dinner auction. The auction will be held at Chateau Briand on Wednesday, March 15. Money raised benefits the children's educational experience. Local Science Olympiad. The Science Olympiad will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 at Kellenberg High School. The Olympiad is a full day event, with an award ceremony around 5 p.m. Nearly 1,000 students compete.
K of C hosts Polish night. The Bellmore Knights of Columbus will host a Polish night and St. Valentine's dance on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 8 p.m. to midnight. Theater at The Stage. Mothers Center still enrolling. The Sunrise Mothers Center is accepting late enrollment for its Time for Two program. In Time for Two children 9 months to 3+ years and an adult companion (parent/grandparent/guardian) enjoy quality time together with arts and crafts, story time, games, song and more. Donations needed for Veterans. The North Bellmore American Legion will visit the Northport Veterans Association on Saturday, Feb.11. The legion asks for donations to bring to the veterans. Items needed include: sweatshirts, socks, stamps,nail clippers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, denture tabs and adhesive, soap, baby shampoo, shaving cream,disposable razors, phone cards, combs and laundry detergent.
